IT Forum ... here we come!
What a heavy week it was (and still is). First, some meetings at the beginning of the week. Then the Belgian Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk 2006 Launch Event on Thursday which was a big success but not the most straightforward location in Belgium to get to and get back from. On Friday morning I went to Luxemburg to deliver a two-day on-site training course about SharePoint technologies (which is cleary not my primary interest, but we're flexible when it comes down to product evangelism, aren't we?). And now I'm back at home after a 4 hours train trip writing this blog post and catching up with e-mail. Last but not least, I'm off to Barcelona for IT Forum tomorrow noon till Friday, to deliver a Chalk-&-Talk about SQL Server 2005 Notification Services and to work on the ATE booth for Visual Studio 2005 and .NET FX 2.0 related stuff (which should be pretty calm, because it's an IT-oriented event, not a dev's one; nevertheless, if you're there you're welcome to pay me a visit).
Oh yes, and there's the one guy I really hate: Murphy. One day before my presentations my external harddrive with VPC images was faced with some problem due to an unplugged power cord while running the VPC image. Yesterday night at the hotel I was running chkdsk to fix some problems (which works rather well as the matter in fact) but when leaving the room to go for dinner, I pressed the wrong (should-be light)switch near the room's door, not just turning off the lights but also all power supply in the entire room, including ... guess what ... the external harddrive in the middle of a chkdsk-ing operation (which I discovered right after dinner because my laptop was in stand-by mode due to low on battery power conditions). And since a couple of weeks, my machine can't go in standby anymore without spitting blue a couple of minutes after waking up. Or I'm faced with some hardware or driver problem, or it's time to do a complete reinstall of my OS, which I'm going to do pretty soon to get synch'ed with VS2005, SQL2005 and some other exciting hot stuff (read: waiting for W2K3 R2 to be released).
